Repair of old Braun Mixer kitchen machine
During a repair event I got this machine where a cam piece was broken. Therefore, the machine could not start, as a lever that should be moved up by the cam was not moved up.
I built a corresponding ring like upper lid with the cam to investigate the best solution. This first trial was designed in 90 minutes and after 115 minutes I had this study object. Some file strokes showed me the right position and height of the new cam. Next was to check how to mount the new cam on this quite old, but still very acceptable machine.
In TinkerCad I could simulate the best fit to the old cam place. I filed the broke part, where only the rear part was brokw off, so I filed a kindalike T-nut on the ring, receiving the new cam, which I printed in ABS on my MK4. Quite press fit and a bit of Loctite should do the job.
From the rubber feet two of four were lost, 2 minute design and 8 minute print with 3D-fils TPU 80Sh(A). Pretty soft material. Best fit first time. Found replacements in Spare Parts shops for 4 or 8EUR per piece plus S&H.
Returned the machine to the 81 year old lady who was pretty delighted of having her old machine functionally back. She invited me to some cookies. LOL.
Sustainable work, not throw away and buy new shit-quality stuff.
